St-Vincent de Barrès

An 18th village with outstanding character in Ardèche ! Welcome to St-Vincent de Barrès, a perched fortified medieval village with well-preserved remains. A village towering the Barrès plain, the volcanic Coiron massif and the Rhône valley to the east. 3 main towers can be seen from the D2 road, the main access to the village. 

While strolling around the heart of the village, one can notice several small shops ready to be opened ! The dungeon dates back to the 12thC., made with limestone, in opposition to the basalt rocks used for houses. The Horsemen Gate allowed the access to the village on horse ! Visitors can admire the church, rebuilt in the 17thC. following the War of Religions, located to the top of the village.
