Christine Wood.
The art of decoration.
Her parents were among the first British people to go to Ardèche for their holidays during 1940s. After her studies in Surrey, Christine settled in Montmartre, the artists' area in Paris where she worked in hotel decoration with top quality materials.
In 1997, she decided to move to the family home in Aubenas (
) where she finally opened a craftshop in the old town centre. Now based in the former barn of the family property, she is always after finding the right furniture or decoration item that needs some restoration.
Her assets ? The ancient painting techniques learnt from schools in Avignon and Roussillon, the home-made paintings made with pigments. Her materials are all natural.
She can either make fake marble "stucco" or false wood, trompe l'oeil, painted furniture or patina. She hunts for antiques, from mirrors and trays to armchairs and cupboards, from screens and pedestal tables to prints and lampshades.
Christine also realises works on walls in old houses and matches furniture, doors and stairs. Her craftshop is also a place where you can discover paintings and sculptures from her artist friends.
